DIVING INSPECTIONS OF VESSELS
Underwater inspections must be carried out by specialized and certified industrial divers. Underwater vessel inspections can be categorized into two types: extraordinary and by class. (Extraordinary) A vessel inspection consists of inspecting the integrity of the vessel’s hull, propulsion system, grids, water intakes, anodes, rudder, keel, nozzle, stern tube, shafts, propellers, thrusters and the percentage (%) of marine growth present on the vessel.
In particular cases the vessel is inspected if it has any atypical damage or blows, or if it has some kind of propellant. The inspection to vessel by class (UWILD), consists of inspecting by means of the guidelines to the classification house that such vessel belongs (To mention some ABS, Lloy’ds, etc.) Which are supervised in real time by the Surveyor of the classification house, inspecting all the points mentioned in a routine inspection such as hull, keel, codaste, shafts, propellers, thrusters, propulsion system, clearances, percentage of wear of anodes.
